The location is the hotel’s saving grace: it’s right by Sensoji Temple, with plenty of good local food nearby. But the hotel was expensive and still felt like poor value. The service fell short of what I’d expect from Japanese hospitality, and the front desk staff were cold and unwelcoming. It’s also about a 10-minute walk to the Asakusa Line station. Housekeeping came only once every four days, and free water was available just on the first day. The laundry setup wasn’t good either. There were only two washing machines, and the dryers left our clothes damp and covered in lint. For what we paid, the experience was disappointing and felt more like a rip-off than a relaxing stay.

The room was pretty small, which is normal for Tokyo hotels, but we had an amazing stay. The staff were great and really friendly. It’s just a five-minute walk to the Asakusa Ginza line, with 7-11 and Daily convenience stores nearby too.

At Hop Inn Asakusa, the room and toilet felt quite cramped. My husband is 5'7" with an average build, and he found the toilet area especially tight and uncomfortable. We were also put in an adjoining room, where we could clearly hear the neighbors. It felt noisy and wasn’t very relaxing for us. The staff were polite and accommodating, and we appreciated the free coffee, tea, and hot water in the common area. There wasn’t any free cold or warm drinking water, though. We’d had complimentary water at some hotels in other areas, so adding it here would be a welcome improvement. The location is a real plus for sightseeing: Hop Inn Asakusa is close to train stations and within walking distance of Sensoji Temple. It’s a decent choice if location is your main priority.

The room is really, really small, with only the bare minimum. We squeezed in two suitcases, but walking around afterward was extremely difficult. There’s no water dispenser or safety deposit box, just the basic accommodation necessities like shampoo, a hair dryer, and a fridge. Still, the location is hard to beat. We could see Sensoji temple from our room, and it’s a short walk to Asakusa station, matsumoto kiyoshi, and a local convenience shop. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, including some open 24 hours and others that open super early so you can get your day started.

The bed was comfortable, and the budget-friendly location is a big draw. It’s two minutes from the train station, Nakamise Market, and the underground street, with Tokyo Sky Tree just over the bridge. A few really good restaurants and diners are just outside to the left. The hallways can be noisy, though, and there’s no concierge service. The rooms are tiny, but you can slide your bags under the bed. We chose adjoining rooms to get more room to move around. The lobby has tea and coffee, free sleeping gowns, toothbrushes, Q-tips, hair ties, and other items. There’s also a cash exchange machine, but it didn’t accept every currency. Room cleaning is every three days, though you can ask for fresh towels. Two washer-dryers are on the second floor.
