Hotel California Kaminarimon (Adult Only)

For one night, this place was fine, especially if being close to Asakusa station matters to you. It's affordable by the standards of this very expensive area. Just keep in mind that it's a love hotel, so don't expect anything fancy.

The room itself was far from clean, and the night staff's service was absolutely terrible. On my first visit, while working a call girl job, I called the front desk to say I was going in to meet someone in room number unspecified. I needed to let them know so they could open the love hotel's automatic door. Instead of answering, someone shouted at me from behind the front desk wall, "Shut up! Get out of here!!!" They said something else after that, but I couldn't make it out. I was just doing my job. They only needed to tell me to answer the phone and go ahead. I've been to many love hotels around the country, and this was the first time anyone yelled at me over something so trivial. Other reviews also mention problems with the night staff, so I suspect this person has done this before. If they can't even tell someone to answer the phone and proceed, they shouldn't be working a hotel front desk and should quit.

The room was musty and pretty awful. The sign outside said check-in was from 8 PM to 12 AM the next day, but the pamphlet inside listed 10 PM. When I called, they angrily said extending the stay would cost extra. It felt like a rip-off, and I almost called the police. Be careful if you stay here.

The location near Kaminarimon Gate is excellent, and 6,500 yen for a Sunday during service time is a great price. The room comes with amenities and mineral water in the fridge, so I have no complaints about that. The bathroom is about the size of a standard home bathroom, with no special facilities, so it may not suit anyone who cares a lot about having a good bathroom. I can't speak for the other rooms, but in the first-floor rooms, you can hear sounds like doors closing through the walls. I also found a long strand of hair sticking out between the bath towels, which was a letdown.
