The shared facilities are handy: there's a kitchen, a washer and dryer, toilets on both floors, and showers and baths downstairs on the first floor. There's also a small eating space in the hallway that was usually available. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the station, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It's a little away from the main tourist area around Kaminari Mon, which made the surroundings quieter and more relaxed. Hotel Meigetsu in Asakusa is a simple, older Showa-era place. You can feel its age, but it was clean, maintained, and had a cozy, welcoming feel. My single room was small but enough for me with just a carry-on; larger bags could be awkward. I'd suggest it for laid-back travelers who don't need luxury and like a quieter stay. Sound insulation isn't great, as with many buildings from that era in Japan, so light sleepers may want earplugs. I think the hotel may provide them. A comfortable, budget-friendly choice for a simple stay in Asakusa.

The owner was really nice and accommodating, and spoke English. My room was clean, and they cleaned it when I asked. The bathrooms and shared areas were clean and well kept too. I also enjoyed trying the Japanese bathroom. It's a bit farther from central Tokyo, but for the price it's a great place to stay. Thanks for a lovely visit, owner san. We left early and couldn't thank you in person before going. mata ne! 🙏

For somewhere rated 4.5 stars, it felt more like a 2-3 star place to me. The room smelled bad, was very small, and the whole place felt worn and dated. Still, it was clean considering its age, in a safe neighborhood, and reasonably close to the station. The service was good and it was cheap. I felt cramped and uncomfortable, and some other guests made me feel unsafe. It's probably fine if you plan to spend almost no time there, but I wouldn't stay again. The place felt out of date.

I was worried the compact space might be noisy at night, but it was quiet enough that I didn't even use my earplugs. The reception staff were extremely kind and helpful. The location is excellent, and the price is more than reasonable for Tokyo. I'd happily book a few more nights if I came back on a low budget.

You get a clean, affordable hostel, which is good for what it is. I do wish there were more showers, and the bunk rooms don't have enough room to open a suitcase. Apart from those small issues, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Tokyo.
