The location was just right, with shops and restaurants nearby and Ikebukuro Station close by. I booked the room for my father while I was preparing to leave Tokyo. He liked its size, and it had a queen bed and a hide-a-bed couch. The bathroom was nearly Western-sized, and he found the place cleaner than many hotels we've stayed in in the west.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the station is only a minute or two away. The room was fairly large compared with nearby hotels. The downside is that some rooms don't get a WiFi signal.

The price was reasonable, and getting to Ikebukuro was quick and easy. There was no WiFi in the rooms!

I'd assumed in-room WiFi was standard in Japanese hotels while traveling around the country. Hotel Strix proved otherwise. You can only get online in its tiny lobby.

The location is good, but unfortunately it's really hard to breathe in the rooms. There just doesn't seem to be enough oxygen.
