Hotel U

The location is good, but I wouldn't stay here again. I came for a break before and the site listed 6,000 yen, but they charged 9,000 yen at check-in. I objected, but couldn't choose a room and other hotels were full, so I stayed. The reception staff were rude. My room was small and poorly cleaned, with long hairs and white residue in the bath. The walls didn't block sound, and I heard banging next door. The sweets weren't worth much either. The mini cakes tasted like supermarket products, the ice cream puffs were cheap, and the sweets aren't for anyone with a discerning palate. The drink bar was worse than Saizeriya, with bland drinks that didn't seem to be replenished often. The rental cosplay outfits were worn and didn't look like they were washed often, so I wouldn't use them. The worst part was checkout. They called 15 minutes before it was due to settle the bill, then automatically charged a 1,500 yen 30-minute extension even though I was only three minutes late. They insisted I pay. My check-in receipt didn't say anything about the fee, so they showed me the one at the front desk. I was annoyed they charged me without explaining it. I hadn't extended the stay and thought I was checking out within reason, but the receptionist said I was interfering with business and threatened to call the police. I don't know if they're in the red, but using the police to intimidate customers and boost sales is wrong. I ended up paying 10,500 yen for a break. I should've found another hotel. Apparently they'll charge the 1,500 yen extension even if you're just a minute or a second over, so watch out. I want to warn people not to put up with this. I'd like a refund, but I'll take it as a lesson learned.
