Indoor Camping Asakusa Ueno

The apartment was spotless when we arrived, and having a washing machine in the unit was much appreciated. It's in a quiet residential area, yet close to convenience stores, a grocery shop, and the subway. The room was incredibly spacious and bright. The hard part was getting in touch: there's no one at the front desk, and communication goes through the booking app or phone. Replies took hours, and some calls went unanswered.

We had loads of room, even with two other people and five suitcases, and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. It's just 650 meters from Iriya Station, with convenience stores and coin laundry shops nearby. Inside, the room had a kitchenette, hairdryer, towels, soap, and shampoo. Mine also came with a balcony, which was a nice extra. Check-in is self-service, but staff are available by email or chat whenever you need help.

Agoda handled the booking, but the hotel wouldn't let me cancel, even though its policy says cancellations are allowed. I ended up paying a huge fee for a reservation I won't use.

We got back to a lovely view over Tokyo after a day out, and found our bags just as we'd left them at reception. We'd arrived early, left them there, used the bathroom to change, then headed off. The room was spotless and roomy, with places to sit and a clean, new bathroom stocked with towels, shower gel, shampoo, and other basics. The bed wasn't a double, but it was comfortable. It's a quiet, very safe-feeling local area, under a 20-minute walk from SensoJi temple. The main city areas take 30-40 minutes by train, which was a bit farther out than expected. We had a wonderful stay.
