Marunouchi Hotel

The cigar lounge was a highlight, with an impressive whisky selection at very reasonable prices. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view over Tokyo Station. You might notice some noise if you’re sensitive to it, though it didn’t affect our stay. Reception and concierge were professional, attentive, and helpful throughout. It suited our family well, and we’d happily return.

The hotel is connected to Tokyo station, which made getting on the trains so easy. It’s clean and beautiful, in a lovely area, and had all the comforts we needed, including fluffy robes, pajamas, skincare, slippers, and a water filling station. We spent our last two nights in Japan here and were especially touched by how the staff treated our young son. They gave him cute sushi erasers, and when he left his new stuffed owl behind on our departure day, they agreed right away to mail it back. I also asked if I could buy the pajamas, which was a pretty unusual request, and they kindly offered me a pair at a discount. Those little gestures made us feel at home and made the stay memorable. We loved it and are very grateful to the staff.

The rooms were small but well kept, which seemed typical for this area. Service, though, fell short. When our group asked the person handling the bell service to bring our 8 bags to the room, he told us to carry them ourselves and was rude to us otherwise. The reception is on the 7th floor, but there are no signs or personnel on the 1st floor to point you upstairs. For a 4 star hotel, I expected better.

I got a high-floor king room overlooking beautiful Tokyo Station after an upgrade, which was a lucky bonus. Even the standard rooms are larger than standard North American rooms, and mine had plenty of towels. The bath amenities included skincare, and the hair dryer was ionic. There’s a currency exchange booth by the front desk, and I arranged luggage forwarding to my Kyoto hotel the day before checkout without any hassle. It’s right across from Tokyo Station, the rooms are beautiful, and the service was world-class. I’d book here again next time I’m in Tokyo. Highly recommended!
