Oakwood Premier Tokyo

We chose this place for six nights at the end of our Japan trip, and it was a good way to treat ourselves. It’s expensive, but having so much space and being right above Tokyo station made it worthwhile for us. The apartment had everything we needed and was a relaxing place to come back to. Room service came daily and was attentive, with everything ready for us when we returned. The reception staff were polite but very hands-off, and the main bar area looked bare, so we skipped drinks and food there. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking to spend time in the hotel outside your apartment.

Allergy support was above and beyond, but the staff service was mixed in other ways, which kept this from being a five-star stay. They didn’t help us get things we needed for winter or coordinate the Shinkansen. Those were easy enough for us to handle ourselves since we’d traveled in Japan before, but the hotel said they weren’t part of concierge services, which could be troublesome for first-time visitors. Several reviews said you could access the hotel from inside the train station, but that isn’t easy to do. Still, it was a fantastic experience.

The hotel is clean and safe, with great views, and the service was very nice. We got a free room upgrade, which made a wonderful end to our trip, and luggage storage was available. Just steps from Tokyo station, the location couldn’t be better. The bar has a great view for relaxing over a drink, and there’s a coffee and tea bar open 24 hours. They don’t have ice or water machines, though you can ask the front desk to send up a bag of ice.

The apartments and lobby are modern, well maintained, and spotless, with excellent soundproofing. Our apartment had a generously sized empty fridge and all the appliances you’d expect. Staff were excellent: friendly, helpful, spoke good English, and helped with directions, bookings, and taxis. Oakwood Premier Tokyo made an excellent base for our visit, next to the main Marunouchi station for getting around by metro, and within walking distance of Ginza and the Imperial Palace. We’d gladly recommend it to family and friends and choose it again if we return to Tokyo.
