Restay Onoji - Adults Only

The room was very nice, and the online booking perks included a free cake, soft drink, and welcome drink. We’d booked months ahead for our child’s table tennis championship, but only found out when we arrived that it was a love hotel. We’d also ordered a rice ball breakfast set online and got bread instead, for some reason. The listing said breakfast started at 6 AM, but they told us it was only available from 7. Honestly, who eats rice balls at 6 AM in a love hotel? It made for a strange family stay.

The morning started badly. My spouse and I had stayed overnight because we had somewhere to go the next morning for our wedding anniversary. I couldn’t turn on the air conditioner, and it was hot after my bath. While getting dressed and putting on makeup in room 102 on the first floor, I opened the curtains and window because the room felt stuffy. A male cleaning staff member walked by, and we made eye contact. I was very uncomfortable. I hadn’t expected anyone to pass through that narrow gap in the parking lot, and I never imagined someone would walk right in front of me. I wish they’d warned me first, or at least said something. When I explained it to the front desk, they said something like, “We didn’t expect it to be open...” People on the upper floors might open their windows too. I told them their response made it sound like I was the only one at fault. They said that wasn’t what they meant and they’d explain it properly from now on, but why not say that at the beginning? The way they spoke only made me angrier. They also said, “Sorry, I was just passing through on my break, I didn’t think it would be open,” which made me think the front desk could have explained it better. I don’t work in cleaning, and I had no idea staff might pass so close by. If they have a reason for doing that, they should change the window frame or make it only open halfway. Since it opens fully, I left it open. They could also have mentioned during the room tour that cleaning staff might walk past because it’s on the first floor, and explained that someone could pass through the small gap. Instead, I got a poor explanation after the fact. I really don’t understand why someone who talks like that is the frontman.

The pillows were great and I slept soundly. I stayed while sightseeing, and the place was very clean, with excellent service and amenities. The food was great too.

The services on offer are extensive, so once you get there you can just enjoy the experience. Getting there by train is quite a trip, so a taxi or bus might be a better option if one is available. One drawback is that they use groundwater, which isn’t suitable for drinking.
