The place was in the middle of everything, with countless shops and restaurants within walking distance. The station with a direct airport train or subway connection was only about 400 meters away, so we could walk to Sakura Hostel without a cab. Next door there’s a great little vinyl-record and whiskey bar with hundreds of records to browse and listen to. We stayed three nights over about four days, and had a very pleasant time, but remember that this is a hostel. Bathrooms and individual showers are shared, with one men’s and one women’s bathroom per floor serving around six guestrooms, and roughly two showers in each. Even with almost every room occupied on our last day, hot water wasn’t a problem. The rooms are small, with bunk beds, but the beds were pretty comfortable and it stayed quiet the whole time. Staff were amazing, and the food they cook is reasonably priced and surprisingly good. You can’t eat or drink in the rooms except for water, but the front common area is always available, and they’ll cook any time of day or night when one of their cooks is free. It may not suit everyone, especially if you’re antisocial or need a lot of privacy, but the experience more than made up for that. I’ll visit again when I return to Japan.

The common area on the entrance floor was warm and welcoming, with a shared kitchen and useful amenities. I liked that the hostel encourages people to cook food from their own countries and share it, which makes it easy to socialize and meet other travelers. The staff made me feel safe and at home. Reception and everyone else were kind, friendly, and helpful. A special thank you to Takashi-san and Rie-san, who were the best English-speaking Japanese people I met during my 18 days in Tokyo. They communicated warmly and professionally, and were genuinely helpful.

We spent 16 nights here as a couple, and the friendly atmosphere made us comfortable as soon as we arrived. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the shared facilities stayed well maintained. The common areas were nice for relaxing and meeting other travelers. Staff were kind, helpful, spoke good English, and made getting around Tokyo easier. Sakura Hostel Asakusa is right in the heart of Asakusa, near restaurants, convenience stores, local shops, and Senso-ji Temple. Akihabara is close too, while Ueno and Tokyo Skytree are within walking distance. There are plenty of souvenir shops around. It was a great affordable place to stay for over two weeks, and I’d happily return and recommend it.

During our 16 nights here, my partner and I found the room clean and comfortable, and the shared facilities were well looked after. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke good English, which made our time in Tokyo easier. Sakura Hostel Asakusa has a welcoming feel from the start and sits right in Asakusa, close to Senso-ji Temple, restaurants, convenience stores, and local shops. Akihabara, Ueno, and Tokyo Skytree are also nearby. It’s an affordable option in a convenient spot, and I’d gladly stay again.

Hot showers with good pressure and friendly, helpful staff made it easy to recharge here after long days. The place has mostly the essentials, which was what I wanted, and the bed was a cozy little place to sleep. Senso-ji is a short walk away, with shops, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby too. Laundry is available, though getting it done when you want may be a long shot. Sakura Hostel was always a welcome sight at the end of the day.
