Sauna & Capsule Hotel Hokuo

For the price, this capsule hotel comes with a lot. The capsule is roomy, well maintained, and packed with features. There are indoor and outdoor baths and a sauna, plus an in-house restaurant with plenty of food and drinks. You can use your key card at the vending machines, and the relaxation room has recliners and manga. The staff speak English too. If you're after a capsule hotel stay, I'd definitely recommend this one.

A really clean capsule hotel with kind staff. The common room has comfortable reclining chairs, though the pods might be even better. I'd strongly recommend it if you need a decent place to sleep for the night. Sauna: ¥3600. Capsule: ¥5500.

It's very close to Ueno station, and the facilities are good, with towels, a public bath, and a free open-air public bath. Some reviews call it not “tourist friendly,” but the staff speak English, and the capsule even has a power outlet and TV. Check in on the 6th floor, leave your shoes in the shoebox, and they'll give you a key to the locker on your floor for valuables.

Foreigners should avoid this place. They refused me because of my small flower tattoo on my forearm, but my Japanese friends say the tattoo was just an excuse to turn away foreigners. I was clean cut and wearing slacks and a suit, so it wasn't about how I looked. Take your business elsewhere.
