Shitamachi Base

Bed bugs infested this place during my stay. I booked through Airbnb for 11/2026 and was put in the first-floor apartment. Honestly, it fits the description of a revolving-door hostel, with no housekeeping. Nothing in the apartment gets washed. When I raised this with the owner, he told me to leave if I didn’t like it, after taking my money for a week-long booking. I cleaned as best I could because I’d already been infested in this home, which was meant to be my trip. The last straw was trying to wash the sheets and finding what looked like a back-alley mattress, stained with blood and sweat and also infested with bed bugs. What I’d thought were mosquito bites earlier in my stay turned out to be from them. Don’t stay here if you have any self-respect. People who profit from tourists and then treat them like nuisances shouldn’t benefit financially.
