Smile Hotel Nihombashi - Mitsukoshimae

The location was nice, with plenty of good places to eat and drink nearby, and it was fairly close to Tokyo station for our shuttle to Narita Airport. I only stayed one night, on our last day in Tokyo before heading home. Since this was our only hotel stay on the Japan trip, I don’t have anything to compare it with. The rooms were really tiny. With our luggage there was hardly space to move around. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re traveling with kids because of the room size, though it might be good value for someone traveling alone or as a couple.

The location is still fairly convenient, about a five minute walk from Ginza line and 15 minutes from Tokyo station. But there were two major issues. Construction was going on just two blocks away and blocked the direct route to the main road. This should have been mentioned to guests beforehand, but wasn’t. Also, basic room cleaning wasn’t included in the rate. The sheets were never changed, and there was no vacuuming or toilet cleaning. Leaving that out of the listing is unacceptable. I would have given cleanliness minus five stars if I could. I definitely don’t recommend it and won’t return on future Tokyo trips.

The room is a bit small, but the lighting is good and the location is decent, with the subway just three minutes down the street. They give you free coffee and one small bottle of water each day. The coffee is quite good, and breakfast is okay, though nothing special.

A very basic hotel for a Tokyo tour, but good value for the price and location. The private bathroom is small, though completely clean. Breakfast is also very basic. The main advantage is getting around. Nihombashi station nearby has direct connections with Hanida & Narita Airport. Mitsukishimae on the GINZA line is about a three minute walk, and Tokyo station is a ten minute walk or two stops by train from Mitsukishimae.
