The location was excellent, around a 5-7 minute walk to the station depending on your pace. The neighborhood felt local, and you’d see kids heading to school in the morning. I didn’t love the nearby restaurants, though. The staff were friendly and tried to handle any request. The rooms were dated but clean, with most things you’d need, including pajamas. The toiletries were a bit limited, mostly Q-tips, hairbrushes, and pony tails.

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff are attentive and helpful. It’s just a few minutes on foot from Sugamo Station on the Yamanote Line, so getting to almost all of Tokyo is easy. Great service and worth the money. It’s so good I almost wanted to keep it to myself!

We had a wonderful stay at Smile Hotel Sugamo, and getting around Tokyo was easy and worry-free. Sugamo Station on the Yamanote Line is just steps away. I especially liked how local the neighborhood felt. It wasn’t too touristy, and there were convenience stores, izakayas, and shops right around the corner, so everything we needed was close by. The value is unbelievable too. It’s a private single-room hotel with full amenities, at a price comparable to capsule hotels near more famous stations, which is rare to find on booking apps.

The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly with decent English. There’s no breakfast, though food options nearby are everywhere, and the 24-hour Seiyu supermarket is right behind the hotel. It’s also close to both the Yamanote line station and Mita subway station. Smile Hotel Sugamo would be high on my list when I’m back in Tokyo.

The service here is really good. The main issue is the room size: like many places in Japan, it feels too cramped for two people and all the things you end up buying. If you stay here, ask for a bigger room.
