At 800¥ a night, it was very cheap, and only five minutes from Aoto station. But I couldn't sleep at all because the upper-floor dorm room was incredibly hot. The AC wasn't blowing cold air and probably wasn't working properly. One guest even went downstairs to sleep in the living room because its AC worked fine. My bed in the upper-floor dormitory, 1A, was shaky and noisy. The hostel also wasn't clean. I could see dirt and dust in much of it, especially in the dorm and toilet room. I'd say it hadn't been cleaned in quite a few weeks.

It worked for me: the bed was clean and comfortable, the person I think was staff was nice, and there was a 7/11 nearby. The station and airport were close, and the price was perfect. Still, I'd call it a four even though some things felt weird. I wasn't given a key, and there wasn't really a check-in, with nobody confirming I was the actual guest. The electrical thing by the bed didn't look very safe, and it was far from the city.

We stayed in the Japanese room, a private standalone room in an old house. Its age shows, but the owners have clearly worked to keep it in good condition. The walls are paper thin, so sounds carry through. For a hostel or inn, it has the services you need. There's no curfew once you've checked in, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there's a kitchen you can use and a living room with gaming consoles. Aoto station is about a 15-minute walk away, though it isn't served by JR lines, so keep that in mind if you're using a JR pass. It's a small but surprisingly good place to stay in Aoto.

Friendly, polite staff and an easygoing hostel. There's a kitchen and living room, dorm bunks, and one private double room. It's on the keisie line into the city centre, and there's a roof terrace where you can have drinks.

It's 500m from Aoto Station. The room is small, but the bed is big. If you have a Tokyo Metro Pass, you'll need to pay an extra 190¥ because the station is on a private line. I didn't see a receptionist during my two-night stay, and all communication was by email.
