Sun Hotel

It’s a peaceful spot with rooftop access, within walking distance of Senjuohashi and a supermarket. The room and bathroom are both small, which is what you might expect in Japan. I’m 5 ft. 5 inches tall, and from my fingertips to my shoulders is about 24 inches; I can easily touch the bathroom ceiling, so taller people might find it uncomfortable.

We had a good stay in this quiet residential area. It’s a bit of a walk to the station, though not an unpleasant one, and there are plenty of food options near the station. The room was clean, and check-in was easy.

I stayed for two days, and the station felt far away. There’s a mall by the station, but the rest of the neighborhood is residential. They don’t offer room service or even towel changes. It might work for a long stay if you’re going to live in Japan, but as a traveler I wouldn’t choose it again. By the way, this is an apartment, not a hotel.

They gave us a room with a kitchen because we’re vegetarians and needed somewhere to cook. We only used it once and got takeaway from vegan places around the city. There are free laundry machines, and the rooms are clean and spacious, though the bathroom is small. The price is very reasonable. You can hear the train, but after a while it just becomes background noise. Shinjo Hashi station is about a five-minute walk, and KitoSenju JJ05 on the JR line is around 20 minutes away. Life market is nearby.
