After a full day walking, it was nice to soak my feet in the tub. My single room was fairly spacious, though the bathroom was small but OK, and it had a mini fridge. In Tokyo, the price felt quite affordable. Ueno station is about a slow 10-minute walk away. They also have a simple breakfast and free coffee in the lobby.

Hotel Sun Targas Ueno has a nostalgic Showa Retro feel, from the red-carpeted lobby to the older furniture and pink curtains. It's been part of the city for over 70 years, and the place has a vintage, almost movie-set atmosphere. The 9.5-square-meter single room is compact, but laid out well enough to open your luggage. It was spotless and relaxing, and late checkout until 12 PM is a nice perk at this price. The buffet breakfast is free and served in the retro lobby area, with salad, eggs, bacon, bread, soup, and plenty of coffee. The lobby also has free tea, a water server, and a microwave for guests. JR Ueno Station is a 4-minute walk away, with Ueno Park and Ameyoko Shopping Street also within easy walking distance. For dinner, I recommend the Duck Seiro Soba at "Warakuan Hanare Okachimachi," about 6 minutes away. It offers good value for a nostalgic Tokyo stay, especially for solo travelers. It's an easy walk of about 5 to 10 minutes to all of Ueno station, including the Skyliner, so getting there with several suitcases was comfortable. The staff were lovely and helpful whenever anything came up. Really nice hotel!

The location is handy, with restaurants, convenience stores, and train stations nearby. The room was quiet enough, though not soundproof, and spacious enough for one person. I could opt out of room service and just got a bag each day for replacement towels and trash bags. The lobby has a microwave, water, coffee, and toiletries. One towel did have a brown stain, though.

Everything was fine, and the price was good. The room and location were both okay. I'd stay again if I wanted to save some money.
