The Barn Tokyo

The room was cozy, with a firm mattress, lots of pillows, and a large shower. We also appreciated the generous amenities, including drinking water and a light breakfast, and the staff were consistently nice and helpful. Still, we left a night early and moved to another hotel because we couldn’t get proper rest. We booked four nights but stayed only three. In Room 103, a group above us made heavy footsteps and talked loudly around 1 am and again at 7 am. On the third day we were moved to Room 104, but we could still hear movement and conversations from upstairs. The soundproofing seems very poor, and after long days out we couldn’t relax. Carpet flooring or soft foam slippers might help reduce the sound of footsteps. The hotel is near Uguisudani JR Station, closer to the North Exit, which only has stairs. With suitcases, use the South Exit for elevator or escalator access. Donki, Family Mart, Lawsons, McDonald's, and Sukiya are nearby.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. The whole thing felt like zero transparency or flexibility, with no willingness to help. I’d booked the wrong month by mistake, which was on me, but I gave a full month’s notice in Tokyo. The receptionist offered the room at the much higher current price and didn’t mention the reasonable option of paying the difference. She said she couldn’t guarantee a refund for the original booking, so I didn’t want to risk paying twice and started looking for a cheaper hotel. Only after I decided to leave did she tell me the refund would be completely refused. Then their so-called “commercial gesture” was to charge me a 30% fee. Even a simple solution, like paying only the difference, would have fixed it. Instead, they charged me more. Truly outstanding customer service. 😂

The area was great, close to the train station with good food just a few steps away. Every alley looked like a movie set and was really photogenic. This was my favorite hotel of the trip so far. The staff were amazing and helpful, and my room was clean and spacious. I’m 6’1, and the shower was huge, I fit perfectly.

It’s a charming little boutique hotel in a neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants. The staff are very attentive, and the rooms are clean and comfortable with all the essentials. By Tokyo standards, the room was a decent size. In the morning there’s coffee and donuts in the lobby, plus a complimentary selection of things you might have forgotten, like razors and toothbrushes.
