The Nell Ueno Okachimachi

The newer mattresses and pillows made for a comfortable night, and the price felt worthwhile for what you get. The capsules have a retro-futuristic look and sit in neat rows. This men-only place is near JR Ueno Station and has a stylish, clean feel throughout. After check-in, you can store your bags in the locker room, then use the roomy bathtub and the various bathroom amenities. Rates start at 4,000 yen a night, and moving from the entrance to your sleeping space is straightforward.

For about 4k yen a night, you get a cheap, clean, convenient place. You can also just stop in for a shower and a break at the japanese sentou. An overnight stay includes a toothbrush, shaver, robe, and towel. There’s a cafe area with drink vending machines, free Wi-Fi, a microwave, and a phone charging outlet.

The bath was lovely, though a bit too hot for me to stay in long, at just over 40°C. Downstairs, there’s a free machine with unlimited hot or cold coffee, water, lemon water, green tea, and barley tea. The small to medium lounge has a smoking room, a couple of vending machines, a TV, a microwave, and a hot water dispenser for tea. The hotel is very clean and modern, the staff are extremely friendly and speak decent English, and the beds are fairly comfortable with really nice pillows. A very nice place, I’d recommend it.

Worst capsule I’ve stayed in. The TV is a CRT, the capsule gets really hot with no ventilation, and bugs were flying around.
