Toyoko Inn Tokyo Otsuka-eki Kita-guchi No.1

The included breakfast was simple but enjoyable, with assorted onigiri, salad, plain and chocolate croissants, and a meat option such as sausages or meatballs. Staff at the front desk were very friendly, though communicating would have been difficult for me without my sister speaking Japanese. The amenities are basic but make sense for the low room price. There were free combs and razors at reception, body and face wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower, toothbrushes with toothpaste, and a face mask kit for women at check-in. Pajamas can be borrowed from the lobby, and the room had slippers, a kettle, mugs, green tea, plum tea, and Wi-Fi in both the room and lobby. The location is excellent, just three very short blocks from Otsuka Yamanote line station. The room was too small for me and my sister to share, though it would be great for one person or two people packing very light. The rooms open to the outside, which my sister didn’t find very safe. I liked being able to open the window or prop the door open for fresh air.

The staff were friendly and the location was good, but the room was dusty and the furniture a bit old. Breakfast wasn’t as good as at other Toyoko Inn locations in Tokyo. Some items ran out near 9am and weren’t replenished, even though breakfast continued until 9:30.

It’s a small hotel, and the rooms are small too, but they have what you need. Breakfast is included, though the options are limited. I had a comfortable stay and would come back.
