New Toyo Hotel Toyohashi

The staff were courteous, and I had a memorable stay at New Toyo Hotel. It’s an awesome place :)

Good.

The best things here are the meals. Dinner comes as one of two hearty daily set menus, with enough variety that workers staying several nights probably wouldn’t tire of them. I suspect they use commercial ingredients, but the food is prepared well. When I sat down, an elderly woman poured tea for me and said, “Thank you for your hard work.” I really appreciated that. Breakfast is a buffet, including tamagoyaki that seems likely to be made in-house. I’d planned to eat a big lunch that day, so I kept my portions small, but everything tasted so good that I wanted to try a little more of each dish. I use this hotel when I travel by train, such as on the Iida Line. The facilities are quite old, and women may hesitate to stay here, but the rooms and shared spaces are generally comfortable and well maintained. I’ll definitely stay again.

The location is good, and I’d like to stay here again. After a long trip on the Iida Line, I arrived with my bicycle packed up for the overnight stay. It’s fairly close to the station, though walking there with the bike bag was tough. I later found out that if the nearby train depot was free, they would have let me take the bike apart and put it back together there.
