Hashimotoya Ryokan

I stopped here for lunch before going to Muroji Temple. The food was delicious 😋

Hashimoto-ya is connected with photographer Ken Domon, and it's a lovely place to sit and listen to the river. From the restaurant you can look across toward Muroji Temple, and in spring the dining area has views of the grounds with cherry blossoms and rhododendrons. The main building serves seasonal mountain vegetables that suit the area, and there's a good range of souvenirs too.

I visited Hashimotoya in Uda City, right in front of Muroji Temple, known as the Women's Koyasan temple. The view of Muroji Temple from the room they showed me was wonderful. I chose the Shakuninuka wild vegetable course. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, and the service was attentive. There were a la carte dishes as well, and my nephew, who doesn't care for wild vegetables, ordered an oyakodon that looked delicious.

I came for lunch before visiting Muroji Temple. The food was average, although the service was good and it arrived quickly. The tatami seats by the window have a very pleasant view of the river. They accept Go To Travel coupons. I understand the restaurant across the street is the same business. That one focuses on wild vegetables, while this spot by the bridge serves soba and udon.
