I paid by card when I booked through Rakuten Travel, but after checkout the hotel called me several times insisting I had to pay on-site. They also texted a so-called "fax from Rakuten," which I think was about an earlier cancellation. Since they rely on fax, they seem unable to keep up with changes. Why chase a guest without checking with Rakuten first? I showed them the updated information on my phone, and I wondered whether a fax could really be 100% accurate. I checked with Rakuten myself, and the card payment had gone through. The hotel never contacted me or apologized afterwards. It was a very unpleasant experience.

I slept well in the private room, which had plenty of outlets, strong air conditioning, and lots of hangers. The design is nice, as other reviews mention, and Baki and Dragon Ball were already partway through. I’m curious where they pick up. The shower area doesn’t have a separate changing room, but there’s netting above, so it should be fine unless you’re using some very elaborate shower technique. I came for a live show at Music Town Otoichiba. Sekido Jujiro bus stop is right outside, and when a sudden rain shower hit, I got checked in without getting wet. The host welcomed me, explained everything carefully, then suggested starting with coffee. That was a lovely break after the long bus ride. Smoking is allowed in the shared second-floor space, which is very relaxing. I also enjoyed chatting with the host, Yasue, and the other guests. It’s a great place to stay for an Otoichiba show or a night around Koza. #MusicTownOtoichiba #GuesthouseSekidoNaoya #SekidoJujiro

It’s cheap, and there are plenty of local bars and pubs nearby, so I can spend my money there, lol. Staying here feels like having a room at a relative’s place.

The place has a lot of thoughtful basics: a desk and chair, pen holder, hair dryer, clothespins, a small reclining chair, and a little bedside chair for storage. There’s wifi too, plus books that looked like novels or manga, though I can’t read Japanese. The room was a good size and I liked its style. The bed dips when I lie down, but I’ve gotten used to it and it didn’t bother me. The pillows were just the right height. I was confused downstairs at first because it didn’t look like the room I booked. Then I realized the room was on the second floor. The woman in charge and the owner were both very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated being able to check in early and leave my luggage. The toilet and shower are outside, and strong wind can make it cold. There were some interesting decorations in the toilet. The shower is downstairs, with plenty of hot water, and the washer and dryer are beside it. You pay by putting a coin in a jar. You should be able to hang clothes on the rooftop. I asked about the people I saw in the hallway because I’d assumed they were part-time workers staying over. It turned out they were students admitted to a nearby medical school. The hometown seems proud of them. The downsides for me were the cigarette smell and the soundproofing. Maybe the smoke comes from the owner’s grandfather smoking in the living room. Even with the middle door closed, it still drifts through. I could also hear my neighbors talking, the noisy exhaust pipes from the 8+9 building outside, and people walking in the hallway. Headphones helped, though, and I had no trouble sleeping. Parking for residents is 300 yen a day, which I can accept given the room rate. Cash only, no credit cards, is a small drawback. I’d definitely stay again. The owner said I was the third Taiwanese guest, haha.

The landlady is a beautiful Okinawan woman, and the retro spot with its Showa-style counter is just the best 😆 There are bars close by too, which is great 🙆 I’ll definitely stay here again when I come to Okinawa 🌺 Akamichi Naoya is the best \(^^)/
