We’ll be back, maybe during ski season next time. Nakamura-san and his family are generous and so kind. This was my husband’s second stay, after his first one many years ago, and our family recommended the place. The open, clean space has lots of books and train models, and we enjoyed good conversation. Each morning brought a generous, tasty homemade breakfast. They also gave us several lifts to the train station, which we really appreciated, and useful transportation advice.

It feels more like a home than an ordinary hostel. Mr Nakamura and his family made me feel welcome and cared for every guest. The home-cooked food was excellent. With Mr Nakamura’s help and support, I completed the Shinetsu Trail in 3 days, and he shared local knowledge to help everyone enjoy their time. His passion for building train models is impressive, and the lobby display is fascinating. I’d happily come back again and again.

I’d definitely like to visit this inn again. I stayed one night on a snowboarding trip and found the food really delicious. It’s a youth hostel, as others have mentioned. Dinner was Western-style and breakfast Japanese-style that day, with a nice range of dishes. The night cafe coffee and sweet potato tart were tasty too. Seeing the master’s favorite N gauge running was a great trip memory.
