HOTEL Futaba DOUBLE - Vacation STAY 61441v

I arrived late and left early, staying less than eight hours, so that's the context for my rating. I stayed on December 31, 2021. It was about a 5-6 minute walk from Kannai Station, in a deep part of Kannai with old-fashioned snack bars and small izakayas. The surroundings felt unpleasant, like a day laborer's district. Late at night and early in the morning I saw many elderly men wandering around, and they stared in a creepy way. That's what I saw. There was also an office where I couldn't tell whether it was left-wing or right-wing. This could work if you just need a cheap place to sleep and don't mind the neighborhood. I didn't take photos, so look at other people's if you want to see the place. There are two entrances, and you have to use the one marked “Hotel Guest Entrance” to get to your room. It's confusing. The key is left inside the room, which made me wonder if someone else could take it before I arrived. That worried me a little. To keep prices down, there was no one at reception, and the instructions said not to call even in an emergency. They wouldn't answer anyway. The room had the basics: TV, fridge, bed, table, and two power outlets. Wi-Fi was free and not especially slow. I couldn't work out the TV, though. I wanted terrestrial and BS channels, but adult channels kept coming up. The screen said a BCAS card was needed for terrestrial channels, and I couldn't find the card, so I gave up. I only needed the room to sleep in. There was a hand towel, bath towel, and toothbrush set. The shower room is open 24 hours and has shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, so you can arrive without bringing those. If all you need is a bed, the basics are there. Still, do your research beforehand. You can only rely on yourself here.

This seems like a good fit for one person who's worn out after work or a night of drinking. I booked ahead because I needed a quiet private room for a short sleep after working late. The room, shower, toilet, and especially the smoking area were clean. The front desk directions were clearly posted, the neighboring rooms weren't noisy, and when I woke the guy at reception around 5:30 to check out, he didn't seem bothered and sent me off kindly. The bed in room 207 wobbled a lot and wasn't level, so I hope they fix it. As for the neighborhood, there are quite a few drunk people and people smoking outside late at night and early in the morning, but you probably won't be bothered.

I booked Room 203 through the Hotel Futaba website because APA Hotels were full and this room was cheap. That was a mistake. I won't stay here again. Dozens of small bugs were flying around on the day I checked in. I bought an Earth Jet at Welcia, but it didn't seem to affect them. There were more around the air conditioner vents, and they kept me awake. Under the bed was dusty and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. The vent fan had no screen to keep bugs out, so they came in when I turned the ventilation off. The shower was also frustrating: even with the head in its holder, the water pressure was so strong that it kept moving around. They provided shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and towels for your body and face. There's no bathtub, just a shower. After using the towels, you have to wash and dry them yourself at the laundromat instead of getting replacements. Nothing about that was mentioned when I booked. I chose the place because it was cheap, but it was a bad call.

I picked this place for its clean-looking rooms, reasonable price, and good location, but booking elsewhere would have saved me a lot of hassle. Two nights after I reserved through a hotel booking site, the hotel called to say the room wasn't ready and I had to cancel. The reservation had been paid by credit card, so a cancellation was likely to be complicated. Since the hotel's lack of management had caused the problem, I didn't think I should have to pay and asked them to sort it out. They said they'd handle it and contact me the next day. By evening, I still hadn't heard anything. When I contacted the booking site, they said the hotel hadn't contacted them. I ended up dealing with it on the hotel's behalf and wasting my time. Mistakes happen, but they took too long to notice the issue, responded slowly, and seemed dishonest throughout. It left me feeling awful. I've never had a hotel cause this much trouble over such basic service. There were rooms available when I booked, which makes me worry the same thing is happening to other people. I regret choosing this place. After all the time spent sorting out the hotel's tedious mess, I wish I'd booked somewhere else. They need to improve how they handle these problems. I won't stay here again, even by mistake, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
