PROSTYLE Ryokan Yokohama Bashamichi

I can't understand how this hotel has an 8.4 rating. The room was tiny and smelled like cheap desperation, with rickety furniture and paper-thin walls. The so-called King Size Bed was two double beds pushed together with a huge gap down the middle. I complained and asked to switch rooms, only to find that the “double bed” in the next room was two singles pushed together, with the same ridiculous canyon between them. I've stayed in hostels with more dignity. This was without a doubt the worst hotel I've ever been in. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

The bathroom was the only good part. The room had no window, which made it feel really depressing, and I couldn't find the tablet that was supposed to be there. Service was poor: I asked for an extra pillow and was rudely refused. It was Sunday, and I don't know why they couldn't provide one, especially since the original pillow was so low and small. They also charge for the skin care set that's usually free at budget hotels. The nearest station is convenient but in a rather dangerous area. I wouldn't recommend this place. You can find much better hotels in Yokohama.

The hotel's spot in Bashamichi is a real plus, near Minatomirai and Chinatown. The room and bathroom were clean and very modern in a Japanese way. Breakfast was nothing special, but it was filling enough, even though the Japanese option was the same every day and partly frozen. The rooms were much darker than the photos suggested, basically completely black inside. With no windows, they felt even smaller and less comfortable, so we only stayed in them when we had to.

The parking information was misleading: the hotel says it has parking, but doesn't mention that only a very, very small car can fit. We drove around three times before finding the place because there was no clear sign, just a tiny hotel name by the front door. In the room, the electric toilet needed a remote, but the remote didn't work, so I couldn't clean anything or flush after using it. There was only one outlet by the bedside cupboard, and the staff seemed too lazy to help.
