Being out in the countryside gives you a real chance to reset after the noise of the city and all the time spent online. It’s remote, so you’ll need transport to get around and should plan ahead for a BBQ. Still, there’s plenty to do: walk among the mountains and rice fields in the daytime, or fish at a nearby facility. Later you can have a BBQ, watch fireworks or the stars, or spend the night in the sauna. Kitchen dishes, bathroom supplies, and towels are all there, so the stay was comfortable. My two kids both had a great time.

We had a peaceful, quiet family stay, and I’d like to come back around autumn when it’s cooler. The renovated place has a spacious tatami room, a stylish kitchen and bathroom, and good appliances. It had an almost hotel-like feel inside. The part that made me uneasy was the bees. We had trouble enjoying our meal during a BBQ in the barn because so many came around. The bathroom is outside on the terrace, and bees followed us there too. One even got inside, which sent us into a panic. Since the property is right beside a forest, I understand nature comes with it, but the bees were still scary. They provided lots of insect and bee repellent, mosquito coils, and long bee nets, which was helpful. A mosquito net at the barn entrance would have made things more comfortable.

It’s in a remote spot, though once in a while it’s nice to feel cut off from everything. It’s quiet outside, but the loudest thing was the air conditioner.

The host was friendly and ready to help. The apartment was very nice, though a little secluded, so having a car makes getting there and back much easier.
