The owners were super friendly, and the meals were delicious and generous. Cheerful muzak in the background filled the house with joy.

The food was delicious, especially the freshly cooked rice, and even though I eat a lot, I couldn't finish everything. I barely got any food photos because I was busy eating. The lovely owner couple run a wonderful guesthouse, and the cleaning was impeccable despite its busy street location. There wasn't a speck of mud or dust on the window frames, and even the unused rooms were spotless. I look forward to visiting every year. The location is superb, and the place has a retro Showa-era feel. There's no air conditioning, but opening the window while sleeping makes the room quite cool at night. Waking up with the morning sun and going for a walk nearby is lovely. If you want the latest amenities and convenience, stay somewhere else. But if you enjoy this kind of space, I highly recommend it.

Dinner and breakfast are both tasty, with generous portions, and the two slightly larger bathrooms can be used privately on a first-come basis. Each fits two or three people, so couples can bathe together and families can go in all at once. For couples, though, a newer place might be a better fit. Groups who want to buy drinks and snacks and have a good time may enjoy this inn. It's a cozy place run by an elderly couple, with a reassuring, childhood-home-in-the-countryside feel. The building and facilities are old and run-down, like a cheap guesthouse near a ski resort. Getting to the entrance means climbing a steep staircase, which can be dangerous in snowy weather when you're carrying luggage or ski or snowboard gear.
