The owners were lovely and very accommodating, and everything was clean. This is a basic Japanese pension hotel, though, with thin walls, so you might want earplugs depending on who’s staying nearby. The “onsen” is really small, too. I had a nice stay, but people around me partied until 3 a.m. and made it hard to sleep. Maybe I was just jealous of them ;)
Rinn, the manager, and Lily were both very helpful. They speak English, though we didn’t need it. They’ll drive you to Naeba Higaeri Ski Center, which isn’t far, and you can rent skis and snowboards at the lodge. If you just need a clean place to stay, this is a good choice.
The landlord couple were really kind and friendly. They offer flexible shuttle times to Naeba Resort, along with scheduled late afternoon rides from 16:00-17:00 and evening shuttles from 19:00-20:00. Breakfast and dinner are well-balanced Japanese-style meals. Communication was easy for us in Japanese.
The staff were very nice, and the resort is close by.
The landlord and landlady are a very friendly couple. Just be sure to follow the rules.
