For skiing at Yuzawa Nakazato Snow Resort, this was a very convenient place to stay. The station and bus stop are only a one-minute walk away. I stayed for one night on a two-day trip. The staff were especially kind and polite, which made the visit pleasant. You can leave luggage before or after check-in, and get ready, unpack, or change in the lounge. There's a drying room for ski gear and bags, too. It feels more like a lodging than a hotel or ryokan, and the building and facilities are quite old, though clean and well cared for. My room was small and Japanese-style, but fine for sleeping. The bath is small as well, but that wasn't an issue when I went at a different time from the other guests. I only had breakfast; it was average, neither particularly good nor bad. If you're after high-end accommodation, this may not suit you. For a reasonably priced stay with a convenient setup for skiing or snowboarding, I'd highly recommend it, and would stay here again when skiing in Yuzawa.

The snow at Yuzawa Nakazato Ski Resort was fantastic, and going back there after 30 years brought back all the wild memories from high school with my friends. I booked a room with breakfast at Yuzawa Tamakiya after reading reviews, and could tell from the phone call that I’d made a good choice. The landlady greeted me with a cheerful smile and was kind and attentive throughout. When the train service stopped, she even helped arrange a taxi. The Japanese-style room was lovely, with no obvious signs of the building’s age, and it had a bidet toilet. The artificial hot spring was open until 10 PM and felt very warm, with plenty of room for the guesthouse’s size. Breakfast was such a treat, especially the Uonuma-grown Koshihikari rice. I went back for seconds. After I returned my rental gear and was leaving, they came to the front door to wave goodbye. A place I’d definitely recommend staying in Nakazato.

They went out of their way for me when I said I wouldn't make breakfast the next day, preparing rice balls the night before. Such thoughtful hospitality. The whole inn was clean, including the toilets, which were odorless. I'd gladly stay again.

The food was a highlight, especially the rice. When I said I’d be back from hiking, they planned a menu with us in mind and even served special items like dried ferns, which made me happy. The inn is right in front of Yuzawa Nakazato Ski Resort, so it’s handy for skiing. The owners were a lovely, welcoming couple. Even though I felt I was asking a lot, they received me warmly without complaining. The building is a bit worn, but they provide towels, toothbrushes, bath towels, yukata, a washing machine, and a dryer. Bring your own detergent. I have a history of house dust allergies, and the old building gave me a slight reaction. The other guests didn't seem bothered, so I don't think it'd be an issue unless your allergy is quite severe.

The people here were so warm and kind, and the place felt like the ultimate Japanese inn. I stayed for two days and one night. Breakfast was delicious, and the clean bath was comfortable enough to soak in for a long time. The hairdryer was sturdy, and the shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were all good quality. I'd love to come back ^^
