The room, onsen, and helpful, friendly staff made this a lovely place to stay. I would just try the included meals once. The food was good, but the set menu couldn't be adjusted when there were dishes we didn't like, which felt disappointing for the high price. They didn't have milk when I asked for some for my breakfast coffee, and at dinner sake was served without another drink option, though nobody in our family drinks alcohol. The dining could use more flexibility.

The room was great, well insulated, and in a good location. We had an amazing stay and the service was lovely. If you're new to yuzawa, the counter staff can give you useful local information and practical advice, like where to rent skis and gear. They don't recommend shops, but they do help you figure out how to make the most of your time 🕰️

I've stayed at two other kyoritsu onsen chain places and really like the chain, so it was sad that this one was the worst of the three for me. The interiors, rooms, and onsens are nice, but being so close to the tracks and town made the view and atmosphere unpleasant. The public and private baths both felt less relaxing than the nature settings at the other places. The food was okay. I had one allergy, but they made me take the meal with 27 allergens removed. It seemed like they could have just changed the dessert instead of giving me a watered-down version of the meal. Dinner service was poor, while breakfast service was much better. Check-in staff were good, though the door staff felt a bit cold. The free ramen at night is a nice touch. The other two chain hotels had a choose-your-own-pillow station, but this one didn't.

I travelled alone with my 9-year-old, and we both really enjoyed our stay. The amenities were great, but the staff made the biggest impression. Everyone from the front desk to dining and cleaning was friendly, helpful, and polite, and they made us feel at home. We appreciated having our luggage brought to our room. Shinya san in the dining room was especially attentive to my child and chatted with her so she felt welcome. He even folded a crane origami for us, such a thoughtful touch. I'm also grateful to the young gentleman who patiently helped deliver our luggage. I'd love to come back.
