Galawa Beach Apartments

Wonderful is the word I'd use for both of my stays here. I first came about three years ago with a friend, when the apartment was very new, then returned with my partner on March 26-29, 2024. It was just as clean and inviting the second time, though less new and pristine, and could use a little refresh. The apartment is well located, spacious, clean and equipped for short or long stays. There's private beach access, it's above Kokkos, one of my favorite restaurants in Diani, and a well stocked supermarket is two minutes away on foot across the road. The cleaning and security staff are first rate. The hosts are lovely, quick to communicate and very accommodating. When we ran out of cooking gas, they replaced it without fuss. The downsides are the single AC unit, which is only in the bedroom. The open kitchen and living room have ceiling and pedestal fans instead. I can handle the heat, but guests from cooler climates may spend most of their time in the bedroom, which is a shame because the living room is spacious and beautiful, with a lovely big screen TV. Wi-Fi can also be spotty or slow. It's fine for email and browsing, but might struggle with Teams, Zoom, Google Meets or other work needing good bandwidth. Streaming Netflix, Disney or Apple TV isn't really an option. Maybe it gets vacationers talking instead of looking at screens, but I do like to catch up on shows or watch a live game. Nothing ugly to report. I think it's good value, especially at off peak rates. I'd happily stay again and highly recommend it.
