Southern Palms

The buffet and Grill restaurant food were outstanding, though the Italian restaurant needs more attention and supervision, as both the food and service fell below average. The resort itself is beautiful, with extremely friendly staff. The pools were amazing and always clean. Pool attendants were constantly fishing out leaves and anything else blown into the water, well done to you guys! There are stunning beach views, and security is always around to help you feel safe.

The towels and linen are worn out and need replacing. Also, some areas are missing lights after dark. Please deal with that urgently, since an accident could send someone to hospital and ruin their holiday. The food was excellent, and the waiters were friendly, welcoming, and quick to respond. I really enjoyed the music too. The chefs were accommodating with my personal dietary requests. Keep it up***

Kamal, the head chef, is a real master. Every meal is made with heart, passion, and so much skill, and the food is unforgettable. I’m especially grateful to the security team, and to Juma in particular, who keeps guests safe with kindness and professionalism. Big Mama Mercie welcomed and cared for guests from the first moment as if we were her own children. The owner and his family are warm, kind, and wonderfully hospitable, and they create a special family feeling throughout Southern Palms Beach Resort. It doesn’t feel like just a hotel, it feels like home and like being part of one big family. It stays in your heart and makes you want to return. Highly recommended from the bottom of my heart.

The beach walk early in the morning was the one downside for me, though it’s outside the resort’s control. Local sellers approach you constantly, and that can feel like a bit much when you’re hoping for a quiet stroll. I understand it’s part of the local culture, but it can still put you off. Inside Southern Palms Beach Resort in Mombasa, my stay was fantastic. There was a huge choice of food, with lots of vegetarian and non-veg dishes and plenty to drink throughout the day. You definitely won’t go hungry. Mercie was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The chefs, serving staff, and security guards all helped us feel comfortable and looked after, and clearly take pride in their work. The resort is an excellent place to unwind, with great hospitality and food. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Mombasa.
