That New Year's Eve, back in Kericho after Christmas, I was broke, bloated, and still out exploring. Kericho is gorgeous, like a garden made by God. In the mist I came across Sahara Gardens, a quiet, peaceful place with a nice feel to it. But here's the thing for fellow Elephants: the beer was served so cold it had frost on the bottle. One sip and I felt refreshed and ready for 2026. The waiter absolutely got it right. The beer was so perfectly chilled that when midnight and the fireworks arrived, I got caught up in the moment and forgot to kiss my better half. She was waiting with her lips puckered while I stared at my lager like I was having a spiritual experience. I was committed to that bottle. Sahara Gardens Kericho gets a 10/10 on the Beermeter™. Fellow Elephants, this is your spot. Any colder and that beer might have started predicting the future.

The garden is still kept nicely, and the staff were friendly. But the hotel has gone downhill and doesn't match its advertising. Our room felt dingy, the restaurant looks out onto a corrugated iron fence, and the bar and lounge seemed seedy. (Feb.2026)

A lovely garden, friendly staff, quiet rooms, and cozy beds make this a great place as usual. It's only a few metres from the road, and breakfast is amazing too.
