Grand Royal Swiss Hotel sits in the peaceful Riat area, away from Kisumu's busy centre, along the Kisumu–Kakamega Highway. Its position on Vihiga Road makes it easy to reach from Kisumu town, Kakamega, and nearby Riat. The surrounding landscape has lovely views stretching towards the Nandi Hills, and the calm setting goes well with the hotel's elegant architecture. It's a recognizable hospitality landmark on the outskirts of Kisumu, with spacious rooms, modern conference facilities, and welcoming service for both business and leisure visitors. The large event and meeting spaces also make it a popular venue for conferences, weddings, and major events in Western Kenya. For a business trip, tourism, or a quiet getaway, it offers luxury, easy access, and tranquil surroundings, and reflects the growth of hospitality and tourism in Kisumu County.

I enjoyed the hotel's plants, flowers, and calm atmosphere while I was here for a conference. The drive up the climbing lane from Kisumu City was lovely too, with beautiful rocky hillsides and green landscapes along the way.

I stayed at the Royal Swiss for a work meeting. The hotel itself was nice, with delicious food, lovely grounds, a pool and badminton court, and helpful, friendly staff. The spa was the one bad part, I'd give it one star if I could. The massage rooms are right by the gym, so the music was really loud. Then, during the last 10 minutes of my massage, the masseuse answered her phone and chatted for a few minutes while still massaging me. It ruined the experience. I told management, and all they said was, "Oh, that is too bad." If you book a massage at Royal Swiss, make it clear you expect professional behavior and that the masseuse won't answer their phone during it.
