Lago Resort

Hillary and Roland were so hospitable and helped with everything. They even made me a big meal for the price of chips. The place is clean, affordable, and peaceful. I stayed in June 2025. For the trip there, I found a cheaper route than paying a taxi driver to go the long way around on the rocky road. Take a cab, boda, or tuk-tuk to UZIMA University, below the property, not above. Ask to go a minute farther to VICTORIA GARDENS property. The road is dusty for a bit but flat. From there, walk uphill to Lago Resort Best Views, about 8 minutes, since that side isn't accessible by car. I paid 3-5 times less and it took the same amount of time. Don't say you're going to the hotel or they may ask for more. From the city center, it shouldn't cost more than 300 shillings. For the return trip, I recommend the same route because there's a boda station near Victoria Gardens.

Lago Resort was peaceful, quiet, and felt safe, with outstanding service. Nestor, Sumba, and especially Hillary were patient and helpful, and made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. You can ask to use the kitchen if you need it. They can also take you to the city's main attractions for a very reasonable price. Thanks for making my stay so memorable. :)

A lovely spot to unwind among the trees and greenery, with great views over Kisumu city and Lake Victoria. It feels peaceful.

For $12, I got B&B in a very peaceful spot in RIAT Hills. The hilltop views of Lake Victoria are amazing, but the approach is very rocky. Breakfast could be better. If you're using Google Maps, enter RIAT first and follow it to the institute. Then use Google Maps from there.
