Sea Shells Inn

We arrived after sunset and paid 1500 for a double. We looked at three rooms before choosing the one with an inside bathroom. The place felt badly neglected: the bathroom was small and dirty, the mattress was very old and soft, and the sheet was too small and full of large holes. We left the next morning and switched to Al-reidy, which you can find on booking.com. It's hard to find reasonably priced places in Lamu these days. Overtourism could spoil it like Zansibar.

Quiet, clean rooms at an affordable price. I highly recommend it.

Friendly staff know the town well and can point out what it has to offer. This is a lodging-only place, though you can bring in meals from outside. It suits people who spend the day exploring and just want a good night's sleep. The hotel is right in the heart of lamu town, just behind the lamu museum, with everything within walking distance. There are single, double, and family rooms, all with en-suite washrooms. The windows are designed to bring in fresh air and offer views of the surroundings, and there's a fan too. Every bed has a mosquito net. Laundry and ironing are available.

A quiet, really clean spot with good vibes, and easy on the wallet. Bravo.
