Stegra Hotel

It’s a quiet spot on the outskirts of Lodwar, along the highway into town, with rooms that meet a good standard and fresh meals. The management are friendly, and there’s a pool for cooling off in the region’s heat. So far, I’d call it the best hotel in Lodwar and the surrounding area. I’d recommend it if you’re nearby.

The pool is my favorite, especially with how hot it usually gets in Lodwar. I’ve stayed at Stegra Hotel several times a year, and the clean rooms, helpful and friendly staff, and great service keep bringing me back. It’s also near points of interest, has free parking, and the chef can make meals to suit your choice. The team does a lovely job hosting guests. I’m looking forward to staying again.

Bring friends or something to play while you wait for your food. Service can take a while, so you might as well order first and then have a swim. The new pool makes this a fantastic place to spend an afternoon, and it’s the cleanest one in Lodwar. There are separate pools for children and adults.

The staff looking after the rooms were exceptionally helpful and ethical, and the accommodation itself was great. The rooms have air conditioning, though no hot showers. Dining was a letdown: the food tasted bland and not fresh, and sometimes it took a long time before anyone attended to us. I’d choose this hotel for the accommodation, not the food.
