The birthday surprise was one of the memories I’ll take home: a cake and singing at our table, with a live singer-guitarist adding a lovely touch during supper. We stayed in the Olchani Club Lounge at Sarova Mara Game Camp, and our tent was spacious, elegant, and spotless, with a beautiful bathroom, shower, and bathtub. Falling asleep in a comfortable tent to lions roaring in the distance was unforgettable. The camp’s location worked very well for game drives, and we saw an incredible amount of wildlife. Its amenities and service made our time in the Maasai Mara exceptional. The whole team was kind throughout. Caroline and the reception manager were especially welcoming and generous. George, our butler, made things effortless and arranged a wonderful private supper. Sordo drove us and our luggage around the camp, while Douglas, Damaris, and the kitchen team made delicious meals. Jack looked after our tent, and the restaurant and bar staff were friendly and attentive. Asante sana to everyone at Sarova Mara Game Camp for such an extraordinary stay. We can’t wait to come back.

The one thing we wished for was a heated swimming pool. Otherwise, our family really enjoyed the stay. The rooms and tents were comfortable and well equipped, there was plenty of wildlife around the resort, and the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. A special shout out to Mathias for making extra effort to create a memorable stay for my son, and to the kitchen crew for looking after us so well.

The camp is inside the park, so we felt like our game drive had already begun by the time we arrived. We spent three magical nights at Sarova Mara Camp after two nights at Sarova Panafric Nairobi on our first visit to Kenya. Our luxury tent was fabulous, with a beautiful view over the lake, and it sat among lush gardens filled with little animals and lovely birds. There’s a beautiful pool for relaxing, though there’s plenty to see around camp too. The facilities in the tent and around the property were excellent, and it was a perfect place to unwind between drives. We were lucky to see so many amazing animals. As at the Panafric, the welcome at reception was warm and the service everywhere was excellent. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The restaurant food was excellent as well, and being able to chat with the chefs added to the experience. I’d highly recommend staying here. Thanks to all the wonderful staff.

The rooms are impressive, with proper toilets and showers inside the luxury tents, and there are a pool table and darts to keep you busy when it rains. We had quite a lot of rain because the rainy season started early, and the dampness was the main downside. Our tent got little sun, and being beside the stream probably didn’t help, so it wasn’t very comfortable to sleep in. I’d suggest airing out the rooms more during the day. The food was plentiful, with some especially tasty curries and salads, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. A lovely game camp in the Mara.

Our tent was number 55, at the far end on one side and quite a walk from reception, but there were plenty of buggies, or golf carts, to take us back and forth. Nelson, the buggy driver, was always ready with a ride and often seemed to know when we’d need one. The staff were sensational and couldn’t do enough for us. The tents are glamping plus, with flush toilets and very soft screened-in beds. The food was wonderful, plentiful, and had lots of variety. Since the camp is right in the park, there were lots of animals to see on safari. It’s the most beautiful camp we’ve ever visited, and my number one pick.
