The Kyaka hotel Machakos

That grilled pork is incredible, and the portions are big for the reasonable price. I loved the bar, every bit of it was a 10/10, from the music to the service.

Kyaka, pronounced Chaka, is one of Machakos’s most popular conference venues, and it gets busy on plenty of weekdays. Kenya’s initial capital city, by the way, ever known that? The food and service are great, and the chubby, cute general manager and the rest of the staff are really friendly and can tailor your stay. A larger pool and more parking would improve things.

I was there for a meeting, and the hotel handles conferences and events well. The people were friendly and super helpful. Food was good, though the choices didn’t change much from day to day. The rooms were comfortable, but noise travels through the tiled floors and between levels, and the doors bang loudly. It doesn’t get hot enough here to need air conditioning, but there are no ceiling fans, and they don’t have portable ones to give you on request. Opening the windows isn’t wise because of the mosquitoes, so the rooms can feel stuffy. Still, it’s a solid meeting choice.

The property feels safe and comfortable, with vigilant, well-trained security. I could get high-speed internet anywhere, which made both work and streaming easy. Meals were consistently delicious, with quality on par with top-tier restaurants, and the staff were exceptionally courteous and quick to help. Every interaction felt personal and professional, making the stay smooth and convenient.
