Scorpio Villas Resort

The grounds are beautiful, and being right by the beach is a big plus. I felt well looked after, and the chef was happy to accommodate my dietary needs. My only gripe was that water drained slowly from both the shower and sink. I took a few pictures and videos too.

The walk to the private beach was a real plus, especially the sleeping area with its relaxing makuti beds. I could hear the sea breeze, enjoy the privacy and rest peacefully without being bothered by coastarians trying to sell things. Coco beach, the restaurant overlooking the water, is a great place to hang out and enjoy drinks. The catch is that the hotel doesn't serve lunch, so you have to go elsewhere. That can be nice if you want to explore Malindi, but a drawback if you plan to stay on the property. I first visited before the pandemic, when the staff service, atmosphere, comfortable rooms and recreational pools made for a great experience in the Malindi heat. Since then, they've done a fair bit to recover from losing local and international tourists. The coastal architecture and care for the grounds still make the place inviting. On my later visit, service wasn't as good, perhaps because of lost staff, and some rooms were missing equipment or had fewer complimentary toiletries. I understand things have changed, but the beds were still comfortable and the air conditioning was essential. The pools were clean and looked after, though they felt less inviting without guests using them. I'd go back if they improved the rooms and brought back more entertainment and activities for guests. They should keep working toward what the hotel used to be, with support from local visitors too.

I felt like I was staying in a tropical jungle paradise. The villas are spread through a lush garden, with different styles across the property. Staff were so friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. The beach is only a short walk away via a private access path.
