Mara Serena Safari Lodge

The buffet was a real highlight, with excellent variety, quality, and presentation. Every meal felt like a feast, and the care in the food and service came through. The New Year’s entertainment was also outstanding, the dancing and acrobatic performances were vibrant, world-class, and unforgettable. They created such an electric atmosphere that everyone was smiling and celebrating together. The setting at Mara Serena Lodge is superb, with breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and a timeless beauty. From arrival, we felt welcomed and at home. The people made it especially memorable: Wilson the manager, Duncan, Pamella, Daniel, Belina, Anne, and the whole team were genuinely kind, attentive, professional, and made guests feel like family. Their attention to detail raised the experience to another level. It was a magical, heartfelt stay, and we’ll cherish the memories for a long time. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

We loved the stunning views over the Mara, especially at sunrise, and the service was excellent. The food was decent for a lodge right in the heart of the Mara, and the property is conveniently located five minutes from the Serena airstrip. Our room did get quite warm because the in-room fan wasn’t working. Staff brought us an extra fan, but it made the room feel cramped.

The elevated lodge has lovely views and a calm atmosphere, and its central spot in the Mara Triangle meant our game drives could start just minutes from the property in any direction. We had no trouble with mosquitoes, and there were very few flies or other insects around, a great benefit of the resort being perched on a hill. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and well mannered throughout. The rooms were small and cramped, but the beds were extremely comfortable and the views were fantastic. Buffet meals were decent, with particularly great breakfasts. The bush lunch was wonderfully organized and a great experience. I’d definitely recommend Serena lodge to families for its central location and marvellous staff alone, with the views as a huge bonus.

The restaurant and reception teams helped make us feel at home. Special thanks to Jacinta M, the restaurant manager, who made sure our child had familiar comfort food. She also connected us with chef Stephen Kacheru, who listened patiently and matched our food preferences. Thank you, Stephen K. Property manager Wilson C. will be remembered for his humility and willingness to pitch in to help keep our stay safe and comfortable. Wilson, you went out of your way, and your down-to-earth attitude was warmly appreciated. The staff were courteous, and it was a good place for vegetarian Indian food.
