The apartments have nice furniture and felt like good value, especially for a family with kids. We stayed twice and found the hotel clean and really pleasant. There’s a small shop out front for snacks, plus a restaurant that even stocks Red Bull, which made me happy. The beach is right outside, and the pool and gym were both clean and well kept. WiFi and AC worked well too.

We went two nights without being able to use the AC properly because the remote we asked for soon after check-in never arrived, despite several follow-ups. Staff were very slow to respond, and some were rude and unhelpful. Then we were charged extra for cleaning and for the missing remote. Those fees felt unfair and unacceptable, and the poor communication and service left us with a very negative impression. I can’t recommend Cowreshil Hotel. I hope management improves how it handles guests and takes responsibility for issues.

The calm atmosphere is a big part of what makes Cowrie Shell Beach Apartments appealing. It’s a peaceful place despite being close to things, and the coastal setting has that relaxed Mombasa feel. You can stroll along the beach, watch the sunset, or head to nearby restaurants and local attractions without much trouble. The neighbourhood felt welcoming and safe to us, and it’s a handy base for exploring the North Coast. With the ocean right by the door and lovely surroundings, it’s easy to want to stay longer. Highly recommended for enjoying Mombasa’s coast.

The restaurant was okay, while the beach was excellent. The place was clean and orderly, and the pool had clean fresh water. Location’s very good, and the stay was worth the price.

The only real drawback for me was the constant sales pitches on the beach. Since I’m white, people came by every 5 to 10 minutes offering safaris, snorkeling, or other things they said they had. Once I was near the hotel, I felt safe again. The beach was pleasantly quiet, exactly how I like it, and the after-season prices are very reasonable.
