I arrived at 4am and was welcomed by very friendly staff. My room was clean and spacious. The rate was 20 dollars a night, including bed and breakfast. Breakfast was basic: tea, sweet potato, egg and sausage.

Tononoka is a handy base, with the CBD easy to reach and plenty of taxis and Tuktuks around. Room prices are reasonable if you’re on a budget, and the simple rooms were clean. You can try the food and decide for yourself. It can fill up with local tourists during high season. It’s low season at the moment.

I enjoyed the food, but the rooms need attention. The tissues were low quality, and there was no water to flush the toilet.

The rooms are roomy and the food is great. The tissue paper is poor quality, though, and the showers could use work. The ceilings need some attention too.

The restaurant is fairly affordable and serves breakfast, which is included in the 3,000 bob room rate. The hotel is reasonably decent on Mombasa island. My room had air-conditioning, a fan and a TV. The shower and toilet shared a space, so the floor was wet after showering. There was no toilet seat or paper in the room.
