Classic Guest Houss

I came back after really loving this place the first time, and was so disappointed that I’d never recommend or go back. The staff are great cooks, but there’s never enough stock for what’s on the menu. I thought their service was good, considering what they’re put through. The owner acts like a church lady but treats staff terribly, overworks them, and even takes their tips.

The staff are kind, but I’d avoid this place because of the owner, Grace Odongo, whose personality is toxic. My flight was delayed, so I arrived Friday morning instead of Thursday evening. The room was available, and I checked in and unpacked. Then the receptionist called Grace, who berated me over the phone and said I couldn’t stay in the room under any circumstances. Other guests have run into similar problems. Avoid!

Nairobi has few better places to be.

I won’t stay here again. It’s far from CBD, and my room was very small, with little privacy and inadequate ventilation. The escape routes seemed questionable in an emergency, and the dark stairway had no lights even in daytime. Staff ignored my requests to speak Swahili.
