That rough road is the main drawback at Esidai. After leaving the tarmac, it’s around 8 km of very rough driving, about 40 minutes give or take, and some parts can be tricky to navigate, especially after rain. A 4x4 is recommended, or at least a car with good ground clearance. We heard there may be a better route through the national park, but we didn’t take it. The road is outside the resort’s control, but visitors should know what to expect. We spent a weekend there and really enjoyed our stay. The service was quite good, and the pool was a highlight: clean, refreshing, and looking out over the national park. I’d read another review saying the water was too cold, but for me it was pleasantly cool on a hot day.

We were there over Valentine’s Day, and the welcome drinks and chocolates were a thoughtful touch. The special dinner was excellent, with impressive food quality and taste. The pool view is lovely, and the dining is very good. The hotel’s location just outside Nairobi National Park is unusual, with a private suspension bridge linking it to the park. If you’re already in the park, you can reach the hotel via the bridge, or enter from the main road if you’re not planning a park visit. There were some service limitations. The contact number on Google seemed to be a private phone, and we were asked to text instead of call, which was inconvenient. Since occupancy was low, we were also asked to start breakfast at 9:00 AM, which didn’t suit guests who prefer an earlier schedule. The room was on the small side, the water pressure could be better, and planes overhead made noticeable noise at night, which could bother light sleepers. For overnight guests coming through the park, cars need to be moved from the bridge parking area into the hotel compound, and entry and exit are through the SGR gate. Park tickets are valid for 24 consecutive hours, so if you want an early game drive the next day, you may need hotel security to help coordinate opening the gate, as it can be closed early in the morning. It’s a peaceful place near nature with distinctive park access, though service could be more polished.

The pool was too cold for me on a hot January afternoon, which made me wonder if there’s ever a good time to swim in it. Service was okay, though far too slow considering we were the only guests. The resort itself is beautiful, right at nature’s doorstep. I especially liked the grass, the infinity pool, and the suspension bridge over Mbagathi River into Nairobinationalpark.

Karen & Urbanas took great care of us throughout the visit, and the customer service was excellent. It’s a beautiful, serene place that feels like home away from home. Loved the infinity pool looking over marvelous Nairobi National Park.

The gardens are among the most beautiful and peaceful I’ve seen, tucked away on the other side of Nairobi with great views at the edge of Nairobi National park. Food and service were good, and the chefs were happy to talk with guests and offer alternatives for health needs like gluten intolerance. The spa is beautifully furnished down to the details, with a lovely atmosphere. The pool was clean, and an attendant was always ready to help when children were swimming. Staff were professional and courteous. We’ll keep visiting with friends and family.
