The only thing that saved the evening was being with friends and having good company. The restaurant itself was the worst experience I've ever had eating anywhere in the world. It was supposed to be one of Nairobi's most expensive restaurants, yet the service was worse than what I'd expect at KFC or Burger king. There was just one waitress for about 25 customers. She did her absolute best, but it wasn't enough, even for our table of 8. We waited around 30 minutes to order, over 45 minutes for starters, then more than an hour and 10 minutes for mains after the starters were cleared. If we hadn't been with friends, we'd have left. The food looked nicely presented but had no real flavour or seasoning, and the meat was tough as a boot. The first main came out over 15 minutes before the last, so half our group finished before everyone had their meal. They seemed more concerned with bringing food under a silver lid than getting it to the table efficiently. I wouldn't recommend the place even to my nemesis. If I were involved in Hemmingway's, I'd cut ties with the people running this operation. For one of the world's biggest hospitality companies, that was an appalling level of service.

The Deck feels like a quiet break from the city, with lush greenery, a calm lagoon, and views of the neighbouring forest. Soft lighting indoors and a relaxed open-air feel give it an elegant but natural atmosphere, suited to a long lunch, a romantic dinner, or sunset cocktails. The menu has carefully prepared dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients, including grilled meat, seafood, and vegetarian-friendly options, along with a considered selection of cocktails and other drinks. The staff are welcoming and attentive, with a professional, hospitable manner that makes guests feel looked after. #EatOutApproved!

For a special occasion dinner at the deck restaurant, we sat down at 7pm and waited until 9pm for our mains. There weren't enough staff, with the two people there trying to serve tables and make drinks. The food was alright, but given the prices, long wait, and poor service, I expected a lot more.

James our several was friendly and gave us great service. He knew the whole menu and had good suggestions for both wine and desserts. We enjoyed being looked after by him.

Sophie took great care of us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves during our family dinner. The food was up to par, and the calm, intimate ambience was just right. Everything was lovely, with nothing to fault. We'll definitely be back, and stay a bit longer next time.
