Kahama Hotel

For clean rooms and real value for money, this is a good place to book.

I've stayed here regularly, about once a week, and I'm now looking to find somewhere else, though maybe I just caught a bad day. The rooms can be okay, but not all of them are. Some have no hot shower, and even after being told to wait five minutes, the water still doesn't warm up. Some staff are friendly, while others won't listen to a concern unless you ask for a refund. Once I called before 4pm to ask for an iron, but when I arrived at 9pm I was told the housekeeper had it and wouldn't come in until 7 the next morning. Room prices also aren't consistent: rooms near the road have been offered at one price and ones in the center at a higher one. The rooms are dusty, too. Even buying a drink with a large note can be awkward. They ask you to find a smaller note, and only when you decide to leave the drink does the receptionist go to colleagues for change.

It's hard to get Uber or Bolt to pick up at the correct address. They often take a huge detour around the back to get to the right side of Murang'a Road.

Getting to the hotel was easy, and its central location makes it convenient to reach other places around Nairobi. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the facilities were great. I'd definitely stay again if I'm back in Nairobi.
