Karen Gables

After a week on the road for safaris all over the country, this was a lovely retreat for our last day in Kenya. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the well maintained pool and gardens were a pleasure. There are cozy fireplaces everywhere, and the dogs are lovely and sweet. The staff were kind and attentive, and the food was excellent, especially the English breakfast. It’s the best bed and breakfast, with just the right balance between a luxurious country home and a hotel. Couldn’t have asked for better!

The best part of Karen Gables was the service. Everyone was kind when we had issues, quickly fixing something we’d accidentally broken in our room and accommodating our laundry needs. The hotel and rooms are beautiful, and the food is delicious. Surprisingly, my favorite was the tacos. I didn’t find the area especially interesting, though there are some nice gift shops, coffee places, and a museum nearby. I really enjoyed my stay and would come again.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, especially in Nairobi. It feels high end but still homey and cozy. The care and quality show in everything, from the food to the room decorations.

We’ll stay here again when we return to narobi. The location is in the nicest and safest part of narobi, the food was delicious, and the staff were super cool. They kept me supplied with “Coke zeroes” at all hours. This B&B felt like having my own luxury home from the colonial era. The rooms were a little odd, which is the only knock, but that’s because it’s an old colonial house. I’m very critical, and I probably shouldn’t be. I usually prefer places like mandarin oriental and ritz Carlton, but this exceptional stay won me over.
