Kiluwa Apartments & Spa by Dunhill Serviced Apartments

Think carefully before moving in. We stayed for a month hoping to make it a long-term arrangement, but decided to leave. I suspect at least half the reviews may be from landlords or staff, because our experience didn’t match the glowing picture. We’re giving two stars for the location alone; otherwise, it would be one. The location is convenient, about five minutes from Yaya, beside a supermarket and small mall, and not far from the city centre. There’s lots of parking and two security guards are present at all times. The pool is attractive and well maintained, and there are sauna and steam rooms, though we didn’t use those facilities. The apartment upkeep was a serious problem. We found yellow and red stains on the mattresses, duvet, and couch, despite being told cleaning had been done. The showers had yellow marks on the floors and were very dirty. We had to push for a proper deep clean, and even then there was grease, dust, and dirt in less obvious spots, including above the kitchen cabinets and behind the bed. The management was argumentative when we asked them to replace old, dirty drink glasses. They also argued over painting and cut corners, leaving dirty walls without a full paint job. Maintenance was ignored or, in our view, misrepresented. The cookware was extremely old and rusty. Management said it wouldn’t be replaced until an order arrived from overseas, with no estimated date. The cups and silverware were very dirty, and our two requests to have them cleaned or replaced got no response. The windows on the building’s south side have a large, dangerous crack; management said they’d been that way for years. Noise and other conditions were also difficult. The walls are so thin we could hear neighbors as if they were in our apartment. The loud neighbor above us had children jumping after midnight. Smoke from what I believe were illegal substances often came in, apparently from some tenants’ balconies. They supplied two bin bags for the whole week and got argumentative when we asked for more. After several days of messages and telling them we were moving out, they agreed to provide four bags a week for the entire apartment, which has three bathrooms and a kitchen. They’d expected us to manage with one bag every three days. The Wi-Fi was advertised at 20 Mbps, but most of the time our maximum was 10 Mbps. Often it fell below 4 Mbps and was very unreliable. In our opinion, management has cut corners and neglected standards for years. Keeping costs down seemed to come ahead of tenant comfort and satisfaction, even though the place is advertised as fully serviced and charges a high price.
